First and foremost, I am super happy to report that The Great Mole Hunter has NOT struck again recently. (For those who missed that hilarious – and true – story, you can read about it HERE.)
I cannot believe it’s September already. Seriously.
Didn’t we just celebrate New Year’s a couple of weeks ago?
But the calendar doesn’t lie… And unfortunately, neither does the plethora of pumpkin-spice-flavored EVERYTHING tucked onto store shelves right next to the Halloween candy that’s already making an appearance…
Now, I don’t believe I’ve encountered a more polarizing non-political topic than pumpkin spice. Well, I take that back. Candy corn falls into this category, too, and from what I’ve seen there seems to be no middle ground. Folks either love the pumpkin… stuff, or they hate it (bet you can’t guess which group I’m in….).
And it is literally everywhere you look already, and already, dividing households… Speaking of which….
We’ve gone from a household of two to a household of five since I wrote and told you about the Great Mole Caper. Yes, friends and neighbors, a child of ours and two of our lovely grandchildren are staying with us. It’s been a bit of an adjustment for all involved, but we’re all getting into a rhythm (I figured out the hard way that shower scheduling is a must unless you really, really like cold water!)
And speaking of rhythms – House of Secrets is coming along nicely! I’m at about 30,000 words, and so far Nathan and Lizzie and the gang have thrown me a few curveballs I wasn’t expecting, but I think they’re making the story that much better. I’m honestly not a big planner when I write – I start down the path, and let my characters lead the way to tell the story. I can say with certainty that every single Vital Secrets book to date has had at least one twist that even I was not expecting.
I’m super excited to see where it all leads – and I really think you guys will get a kick out of it when it’s done. House is scheduled to come out in December 2021, but it IS available to pre-order already, so, here’s the link to that if you wanna reserve your copy early!
Well, I’ve rambled long enough, I suppose. The next chapter isn’t going to write itself so I’d better get back to it. Talk to you next month!
